Triple Monitor Cable

Inside the junction box

My main home PC uses a triple monitor setup which originally hogged three mains power sockets all on its own. Combined with the PC itself and numerous peripherals this made for a messy floor space and a lack of sockets. In order to help tidy this up I created a custom triple monitor power cable that would only use one power socket.

I achieved this by taking four spare ‘kettle-lead’ style power cables and joining them using a rugged junction box (normally used for outdoor applications). This gave me the three monitor connections and one cable running to the mains socket. The junction box can be seen on the right with its cover removed. This allowed me to create cables of varying lengths to reach each monitor and did so in a way that will stand the test of time.
