After practising my modelling techniques on many different wild and wonderful projects I decided to test myself by modelling and rendering an everyday device. I settled on the Nintendo Wiimote due to its simple design and plethora of online references and blueprints.

This model required many of the modelling techniques that I had learned up to that point, requiring accurate edge distances to generate the correct smoothing amounts.

It also allowed me to test some ‘architectural’ materials in 3DSMax to achieve a photo-realistic result, aided by a simple ambient occlusion pass.
