When I was first looking into 3D modelling as a hobby, many of the projects that inspired me to get started were photo-realistic car models. The combination of smooth curves and sharp edges really stuck out to me. The models even looked impressive as work-in-progress pieces. One wheel arch or front wing could look elegant on its own.
I decided to follow some tutorials and attempt to model my favourite car, the Aston Martin DB9 Coupe. This project taught me many things about object smoothing and how it relates to edges and their distance from each other. The final topology turned out well but it took me several attempts to achieve a rendering result that I was happy with. This is a project I hope to revisit in the future now that I am more experienced in several areas.
